With this service you can rent a Primera CD/DVD Robot for one wee to Rip your CD Music Collection by your own!
How does the process of ripping CDs work?
We deliver you a Robot + a tiny Laptop, where the Software and Robot is installed. You can even use your own laptop or PC if you prefer. You only need to connect it as it is written in the quickstart guide and you need to connect everything to the internet - so that titles and musicians are automaticaly recognised on the online cddb databases.
How does PTRip recognize the artist, track and album information for a particular CD?
An international online database called CDDB is used to identify the CD to be ripped.
You must have either iTunes or Windows® Media Player installed on the PC. Both software programs are free downloads from Microsoft or Apple®.
PTRip can only be used on a PC. However, you can rip the CDs using a PC and then copy the ripped MP3 files into a folder on your Mac and set iTunes to watch this folder for music. It will recognize the files there and import them into your database. Note: This process requires some advanced computer knowledge and possibly some networking knowledge.
Will PTRip rip mix CDs into my collection?
No. An international online database called CDDB is used to identify the CD to be ripped. CDs not found in the CDDB database will be skipped. An on screen log is created to help identify which CDs are skipped. If multiple CDDB entries are found for a CD which would normally require you to choose the correct entry, PTRip will automatically choose the first entry on the list.
What happens if PTRip doesn't recognize my CD?
Occasionally, CDs that are not released by a major record label will not be ripped to your collection because they are not in the CDDB online database. CDs not found in the CDDB database will be skipped. An on screen log is created to help you identify which CDs are skipped. If you have trouble ripping your CDs using iTunes, try ripping them using Media Player or vice versa using iTunes. You can set it up so that it rips the music to the same folder location. The next time either program is opened it will recognize the new CDs and integrate them into your database.
