With its space-saving housing design, the 4800p 2D imager from Honeywell is the ideal solution for many areas of application in receipt and identity card scanning, at cashiers with little available space or in small parts production. The device automatically recognises all one and two-dimensional bar codes and additionally offers an image and receipt scanning function. The omnidirectional imager technology frees the user from awkward positioning of scanners and bar codes, greatly speeding up scanning.

 

Using the digital camera function the 4800p scans not only bar codes but also other relevant information or documents, such as signatures, identity cards, prescriptions, invoices, authorisations, postmarks, and proofs of delivery or the like. Operation of the device is easy even for beginners: the Smart Focus optics automatically recognises all documents it reads, while the auto-trigger function scans the image without the user having to activate it. If required, the user can remove the high-resolution camera unit of the 4800p from the scan stand, which is delivered with the device. Without the scan stand, the compact and independent scanning unit is also suitable for integration in cash desks, self-service stations, automats, or kiosk systems.

 

The Adaptus Imaging Technology 5.0 decoder software individually tailored to this effect ensures the 4800p’s rapid and accurate scanning of all data. The software reads even problematic bar codes in milliseconds and transmits the data to the connected host computer. The 4800p is equipped with a multi-interface so that connection to most PC, host and POS systems is guaranteed by RS232 or the USB. As the scanner utilises the same connection cables as all other Honeywell hand scanners, many options are available for replacement with the suitable cable, and subsequent changing of the cable or interface programming is simple.

 

As a unique option for high volume receipt scanning, the 4800 is also available as document scanner with copy holder (4800dr). Your customers can use this scanner to read all documents of up to a maximum size of A4 per imaging technology. Extensive image processing tools make automatic adjustment easy and the purchase of an expensive desktop scanner unnecessary.
